Product details

Small hatchbacks like the 2006 to 2011 Toyota Yaris (XP90) reward a suspension that stays tied to the road, and the Asphalt Rally Spec AR coilover, part number CTY320-AR, is built on that idea. It comes from the rally side of the catalog but is aimed at paved roads, from spirited road driving to track use.

On a MacPherson front like this one the damper is an inverted, extended-stroke design with a 55 mm body, which moves the gas and oil chamber away from the knuckle and brakes to reduce heat transfer and unsprung weight. Spring rates are chosen for this application: 7.5 in front and 3.5 in the rear. Both upper mounts reuse the OEM top mount, so the install keeps the stock mounting points. Height is adjusted at the lower mount and you tune the ride across 36 levels of damping.

Expect four assembled coilovers, damping knobs and spanner wrenches in the box. The Scion XD from 2008 to 2013 is also listed. As with any suspension swap, verify fitment with the year/make/model checker and have the car aligned by a professional afterward.

Supported features
Extended Shock Stroke & Springs

Gravel Rally springs range from 250 mm to 270 mm with extended cylinder length and piston stroke, greatly improving handling over uneven and bumpy roads. Height range varies per vehicle and does not exceed OE ride height.

Inverted Steel Shock Absorber

Asphalt Rally uses inverted shocks on many MacPherson applications, moving the gas/oil chamber away from the knuckle and brakes to reduce heat transfer and unsprung weight.

Heavy-Duty Steel Mounts

Strengthened steel lower mounts are standard on MacPherson applications; Gravel Rally adds heavy-duty steel upper mounts on most applications. Wishbone and multi-link applications use the standard aluminum mounts.

Hardened Rubber Pillowball

Gravel Rally kits use unique hardened-rubber pillowball top mounts on MacPherson applications to absorb repeated impacts from loose surfaces.

36-Way Adjustable Damping

Simultaneous compression and rebound adjustment across 36 levels, with carefully selected per-application spring rates and damping to stabilize the car over uneven roads.

Large 55 mm Shock Bodies

Inverted applications use 55 mm bodies for added oil capacity and cooling under sustained stage loads.

Installation

Set ride height with the adjustable lower mount where the application has one; use the spring perch only where the application-specific layout has no adjustable lower mount. Lock every collar with both spanner wrenches. Start damping 18 clicks counterclockwise from full stiff and adjust from there. Professional setup and alignment are required after installation; on MacPherson fronts, establish baseline camber at the elongated lower-mount hole before fine adjustment at the upper plate.
