Product details
Light front-drive Toyotas reward good dampers, and the Starlet is a good example. CTY160-AR from the Asphalt Rally Spec AR line covers the 1985 to 1999 Toyota Starlet (EP70, EP81 and EP92, FWD) with matched 8.7 kg/mm springs at both ends.
Because the car is light, the inverted dampers do an obvious job: the 55 mm bodies move the gas and oil chamber away from the knuckle and brakes, reducing heat transfer and unsprung weight. Heavy-duty steel mounts and hardened rubber pillowball top mounts on MacPherson fronts keep the system stiff, and the extended stroke provides travel. Damping runs across 36 settings and ride height is set with the lower mount.
Each kit brings four assembled coilovers, knobs and spanner wrenches. The compatibility list adds the 1992 to 1999 Paseo and the 1995 to 2000 Tercel. Because three Starlet chassis codes are named, read them against your car and check with the year/make/model checker before ordering.
Supported features
Gravel Rally springs range from 250 mm to 270 mm with extended cylinder length and piston stroke, greatly improving handling over uneven and bumpy roads. Height range varies per vehicle and does not exceed OE ride height.
Asphalt Rally uses inverted shocks on many MacPherson applications, moving the gas/oil chamber away from the knuckle and brakes to reduce heat transfer and unsprung weight.
Strengthened steel lower mounts are standard on MacPherson applications; Gravel Rally adds heavy-duty steel upper mounts on most applications. Wishbone and multi-link applications use the standard aluminum mounts.
Gravel Rally kits use unique hardened-rubber pillowball top mounts on MacPherson applications to absorb repeated impacts from loose surfaces.
Simultaneous compression and rebound adjustment across 36 levels, with carefully selected per-application spring rates and damping to stabilize the car over uneven roads.
Inverted applications use 55 mm bodies for added oil capacity and cooling under sustained stage loads.

Installation
Set ride height with the adjustable lower mount where the application has one; use the spring perch only where the application-specific layout has no adjustable lower mount. Lock every collar with both spanner wrenches. Start damping 18 clicks counterclockwise from full stiff and adjust from there. Professional setup and alignment are required after installation; on MacPherson fronts, establish baseline camber at the elongated lower-mount hole before fine adjustment at the upper plate.
