Product details

Rally-style suspension on a Z33 sounds unusual, but the Asphalt Rally Spec kit is a good fit for a 2003 to 2008 Nissan 350Z that needs more travel and control than a typical sport coilover offers. Spring rates are 14 kg/mm at the front and 7.2 kg/mm at the rear, and the page flags this as a true rear coilover application.

The inverted steel shock absorber design is used on many MacPherson applications to move the gas and oil chamber away from the knuckle and brakes, reducing heat transfer and unsprung weight. Large 55 mm shock bodies add oil capacity and cooling for sustained use, and 36-way damping lets you adjust compression and rebound together. Heavy-duty steel mounts are standard on MacPherson applications, and the whole assembly is rebuildable.

The kit consists of four assembled coilovers valved for this application, upper mounts, damping knobs and spanner wrenches. Set height at the lower mount, lock each collar with both wrenches and start damping at 18 clicks counterclockwise from full stiff. Professional setup and alignment are required. The Infiniti G35 sedan and coupe are also listed, so confirm yours with the fitment checker.

Supported features
Extended Shock Stroke & Springs

Gravel Rally springs range from 250 mm to 270 mm with extended cylinder length and piston stroke, greatly improving handling over uneven and bumpy roads. Height range varies per vehicle and does not exceed OE ride height.

Inverted Steel Shock Absorber

Asphalt Rally uses inverted shocks on many MacPherson applications, moving the gas/oil chamber away from the knuckle and brakes to reduce heat transfer and unsprung weight.

Heavy-Duty Steel Mounts

Strengthened steel lower mounts are standard on MacPherson applications; Gravel Rally adds heavy-duty steel upper mounts on most applications. Wishbone and multi-link applications use the standard aluminum mounts.

Hardened Rubber Pillowball

Gravel Rally kits use unique hardened-rubber pillowball top mounts on MacPherson applications to absorb repeated impacts from loose surfaces.

36-Way Adjustable Damping

Simultaneous compression and rebound adjustment across 36 levels, with carefully selected per-application spring rates and damping to stabilize the car over uneven roads.

Large 55 mm Shock Bodies

Inverted applications use 55 mm bodies for added oil capacity and cooling under sustained stage loads.

Installation

Set ride height with the adjustable lower mount where the application has one; use the spring perch only where the application-specific layout has no adjustable lower mount. Lock every collar with both spanner wrenches. Start damping 18 clicks counterclockwise from full stiff and adjust from there. Professional setup and alignment are required after installation; on MacPherson fronts, establish baseline camber at the elongated lower-mount hole before fine adjustment at the upper plate.
