Product details

The Asphalt Rally Spec AR coilovers are approved for the 1991 to 1999 Mitsubishi 3000GT with front-wheel drive, and the Dodge Stealth of those years is also listed. Springs are 9.8 kg/mm at the front and 8.7 kg/mm at the rear, and 36 levels of adjustment on each damper change compression and rebound together. Start with the year, make and model checker to confirm fit.

Asphalt Rally uses an extended stroke, and on many MacPherson-strut applications the shock is inverted, which moves the gas and oil chamber away from the knuckle and brakes to cut heat transfer and unsprung weight. Where inverted shocks are fitted the body is 55 mm, adding oil capacity and cooling under sustained stage loads.

The adjustable lower mount keeps full shock travel while you lower the car, and the spring perch is used only where the application has no lower mount. Lock each collar with both spanner wrenches and start damping at 18 clicks counterclockwise from full stiff. On MacPherson fronts, set baseline camber at the elongated lower-mount hole before fine tuning at the upper plate, then have the car professionally aligned.

Supported features
Extended Shock Stroke & Springs

Gravel Rally springs range from 250 mm to 270 mm with extended cylinder length and piston stroke, greatly improving handling over uneven and bumpy roads. Height range varies per vehicle and does not exceed OE ride height.

Inverted Steel Shock Absorber

Asphalt Rally uses inverted shocks on many MacPherson applications, moving the gas/oil chamber away from the knuckle and brakes to reduce heat transfer and unsprung weight.

Heavy-Duty Steel Mounts

Strengthened steel lower mounts are standard on MacPherson applications; Gravel Rally adds heavy-duty steel upper mounts on most applications. Wishbone and multi-link applications use the standard aluminum mounts.

Hardened Rubber Pillowball

Gravel Rally kits use unique hardened-rubber pillowball top mounts on MacPherson applications to absorb repeated impacts from loose surfaces.

36-Way Adjustable Damping

Simultaneous compression and rebound adjustment across 36 levels, with carefully selected per-application spring rates and damping to stabilize the car over uneven roads.

Large 55 mm Shock Bodies

Inverted applications use 55 mm bodies for added oil capacity and cooling under sustained stage loads.

Installation

Set ride height with the adjustable lower mount where the application has one; use the spring perch only where the application-specific layout has no adjustable lower mount. Lock every collar with both spanner wrenches. Start damping 18 clicks counterclockwise from full stiff and adjust from there. Professional setup and alignment are required after installation; on MacPherson fronts, establish baseline camber at the elongated lower-mount hole before fine adjustment at the upper plate.
