On the 2014 Mini Cooper S, Kontrol Sport sits between a street setup and a full race kit. Its valving runs 30% stiffer than the Kontrol Pro, and the springs are rated 9 kg/mm front and 7.2 kg/mm rear, which gives a firmer, more controlled feel through quick changes of direction. It suits a driver who wants sharper response on weekend runs without going all the way to race rates.
Each damper is a monotube with oil and gas kept apart inside the cylinder, so heat leaves the shock more evenly and damping can be adjusted more finely. The 36 levels of adjustment on each damper change compression and rebound together, so each small turn of the knob shows up in how the car settles. Set the knob to suit the road you drive most often.
Ride height is set on the adjustable lower mount, which keeps full shock travel while the car sits lower. The pillowball upper mount gives separate camber and caster adjustment, so alignment after lowering is done on the car without a separate camber kit. The mounts, collars and spring perches are 6061-T6 billet aluminum, a lightweight and corrosion-resistant build. Oil and gas stay separated within the cylinder. Compared with twin-tube construction, a monotube dissipates heat faster and more evenly, allows finer damping adjustment, and resists aeration and cavitation for consistent ride quality.
Many MacPherson-strut applications use pillowball top mounts front and rear, installing to OEM specifications. The patented mount adds adjustability, combats noise, and sharpens steering feel and response.
Most applications adjust ride height without losing suspension travel, so you reach the height you want without bottoming out the shock. Separate rear shock-and-spring applications adjust at the spring perch and lower mount.
KSport's advanced upper pillowball mount is available on many applications, giving separate camber and caster adjustment for alignment work and removing the need for a separate camber kit.
Mounts, collars, and spring perches are machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum for a lightweight, durable, corrosion-resistant build. Steel shock bodies are zinc-plated for added protection from corrosion.

Installation
Set ride height with the adjustable lower mount where the application has one; use the spring perch only where the application-specific layout has no adjustable lower mount. Lock every collar with both spanner wrenches. Start damping 18 clicks counterclockwise from full stiff and adjust from there. Professional setup and alignment are required after installation; on MacPherson fronts, establish baseline camber at the elongated lower-mount hole before fine adjustment at the upper plate.
