Product details
Loose surface is the target for the Gravel Rally Spec GR coilovers on the 1995 to 1998 Mazda Protege. Springs are 6 kg/mm front and 5 kg/mm rear, and the page describes lengthened stroke with 250 to 270 mm springs, extended cylinder length and piston stroke to improve handling over uneven, bumpy roads. Height range varies per vehicle and does not exceed OE ride height.
Mounts are built for repeated impacts: steel lower mounts, heavy-duty steel upper mounts on most applications, and hardened-rubber pillowball tops on MacPherson cars to absorb hits from loose surfaces. Damping adjusts compression and rebound at the same time across 36 levels. A set contains four assembled coilovers, upper mounts, damping knobs and spanner wrenches. Plan for professional setup and alignment. The Mazda 323 for 1995 to 1998 is also named on the page. Confirm your car with the year, make and model checker before ordering.
Supported features
Gravel Rally springs range from 250 mm to 270 mm with extended cylinder length and piston stroke, greatly improving handling over uneven and bumpy roads. Height range varies per vehicle and does not exceed OE ride height.
Asphalt Rally uses inverted shocks on many MacPherson applications, moving the gas/oil chamber away from the knuckle and brakes to reduce heat transfer and unsprung weight.
Strengthened steel lower mounts are standard on MacPherson applications; Gravel Rally adds heavy-duty steel upper mounts on most applications. Wishbone and multi-link applications use the standard aluminum mounts.
Gravel Rally kits use unique hardened-rubber pillowball top mounts on MacPherson applications to absorb repeated impacts from loose surfaces.
Simultaneous compression and rebound adjustment across 36 levels, with carefully selected per-application spring rates and damping to stabilize the car over uneven roads.
Inverted applications use 55 mm bodies for added oil capacity and cooling under sustained stage loads.

Installation
Set ride height with the adjustable lower mount where the application has one; use the spring perch only where the application-specific layout has no adjustable lower mount. Lock every collar with both spanner wrenches. Start damping 18 clicks counterclockwise from full stiff and adjust from there. Professional setup and alignment are required after installation; on MacPherson fronts, establish baseline camber at the elongated lower-mount hole before fine adjustment at the upper plate.
