Product details

For the 1993-1997 Mazda MX-6, the Asphalt Rally Spec AR (CFD050-AR) pairs 9.8 kg/mm front and 7.2 kg/mm rear springs with an extended stroke. Four assembled coilovers arrive sprung and valved for this application, and on MacPherson applications the shock is inverted, moving the gas and oil chamber away from the knuckle and brakes.

That inverted layout helps reduce heat transfer and unsprung weight. The 55 mm shock body adds oil capacity and cooling under sustained stage loads. Damping has 36 levels of adjustment on one knob per damper, and compression and rebound move together when you turn it.

Ride height is set on the adjustable lower mount, so you can lower the car while keeping shock travel. The pillowball upper mount on MacPherson fronts can be set for camber during alignment. The Mazda 626 and Ford Probe from 1993 to 1997 are also listed, so confirm your model with the year/make/model checker.

Supported features
Extended Shock Stroke & Springs

Gravel Rally springs range from 250 mm to 270 mm with extended cylinder length and piston stroke, greatly improving handling over uneven and bumpy roads. Height range varies per vehicle and does not exceed OE ride height.

Inverted Steel Shock Absorber

Asphalt Rally uses inverted shocks on many MacPherson applications, moving the gas/oil chamber away from the knuckle and brakes to reduce heat transfer and unsprung weight.

Heavy-Duty Steel Mounts

Strengthened steel lower mounts are standard on MacPherson applications; Gravel Rally adds heavy-duty steel upper mounts on most applications. Wishbone and multi-link applications use the standard aluminum mounts.

Hardened Rubber Pillowball

Gravel Rally kits use unique hardened-rubber pillowball top mounts on MacPherson applications to absorb repeated impacts from loose surfaces.

36-Way Adjustable Damping

Simultaneous compression and rebound adjustment across 36 levels, with carefully selected per-application spring rates and damping to stabilize the car over uneven roads.

Large 55 mm Shock Bodies

Inverted applications use 55 mm bodies for added oil capacity and cooling under sustained stage loads.

Installation

Set ride height with the adjustable lower mount where the application has one; use the spring perch only where the application-specific layout has no adjustable lower mount. Lock every collar with both spanner wrenches. Start damping 18 clicks counterclockwise from full stiff and adjust from there. Professional setup and alignment are required after installation; on MacPherson fronts, establish baseline camber at the elongated lower-mount hole before fine adjustment at the upper plate.
