Product details
For the 2012 to 2015 Kia Optima, Kontrol Pro is the street-oriented route to a lower stance without ruining the ride. The springs are rated 7.5 kg/mm at the front and 5.8 kg/mm at the rear, a fairly soft pairing that suits a midsize sedan used every day.
The dampers offer 36 levels of adjustment, one knob per damper. KSport's advice is to set full soft for comfortable daily driving and firm up compression and rebound if you want a tauter feel. Because the monotube design keeps oil and gas separated, it sheds heat evenly and allows finer adjustments. Height is set at the adjustable lower mount, and the Optima's MacPherson front gets a pillowball upper mount with camber adjustment, which can replace a separate camber kit after lowering.
Included are four assembled coilovers, the upper mounts, damping knobs and spanner wrenches. Lock every collar with both wrenches, and have the car aligned professionally afterward. The page also lists the 2012 to 2014 Hyundai Sonata (YF) as a compatible application, so run your car through the year, make and model checker first.
Supported features
Every KSport coilover offers 36 levels of damping adjustment. Set full soft for comfortable daily driving, or firm up the compression and rebound for the track.
Applications with a pillowball upper mount often include camber adjustment — useful for dialing in alignment after lowering, and it removes the need for a separate camber kit.
Applications for MacPherson-strut suspension typically use a pillowball upper mount. The bearing design resists the noise common to other coilovers, and steering feel and response improve.
Most Kontrol Pro applications adjust ride height independently of shock and spring travel, so you can set your stance without risking bottoming out the shock.
Oil and gas stay separated within the cylinder. Compared with twin-tube construction, a monotube design dissipates heat faster and more evenly, allows finer damping adjustment, and resists aeration and cavitation.
Mounts, collars, and spring perches are machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum for a lightweight, durable, corrosion-resistant build. Steel shock bodies are zinc-plated for added protection from corrosion.
A dust boot is standard on every Kontrol Pro coilover to protect the damper seal, with the bump stop integrated inside it — more efficient, and less prone to crumbling than a separate bump stop.

Installation
Set ride height with the adjustable lower mount where the application has one; use the spring perch only where the application-specific layout has no adjustable lower mount. Lock every collar with both spanner wrenches. Start damping 18 clicks counterclockwise from full stiff and adjust from there. Professional setup and alignment are required after installation; on MacPherson fronts, establish baseline camber at the elongated lower-mount hole before fine adjustment at the upper plate.
