Product details

The Version RR road race coilover is for the 1997 to 2001 Honda Prelude, the one approved application for CHD180-RR. Four coilovers arrive assembled and valved for racing, with 22 kg/mm springs up front and 18 kg/mm at the rear. The shock stroke is 20 to 30 mm shorter than on the street kits, and custom spring rates are available if the stock choices do not suit your car.

Each damper has a monotube high-pressure body, which keeps oil and gas apart so the shock sheds heat more evenly and the adjustment is finer. There are 36 levels of damping, one knob per damper, and upgraded bumpstops keep the shock from bottoming out over harsh pavement. Mounts, collars and spring perches are machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum, and the shock bodies are zinc plated. On MacPherson fronts, pillowball upper mounts quiet the bearing noise and sharpen steering response. Plan on a professional alignment once the car is set.

Supported features
36-Way Adjustable Damping

36 levels of damping adjustment. Set full soft for a comfortable cruising setting for normal driving.

Upgraded Shock Bumpstops

Version RR kits include upgraded bumpstops to prevent the shock from bottoming out over uneven pavement or harsh road conditions.

Built for Racing

Aggressive spring rates and valving with a 20–30 mm shorter shock stroke. Choose proven spring rates or your own custom rates; the shocks are valved to what you select.

Pillowball Top Mount

Many MacPherson applications have pillowball upper mounts; the patented bearing design combats noise and improves steering feel and response.

Monotube High-Pressure Design

Oil and gas stay separated within the cylinder for faster heat dissipation, finer damping adjustment, and consistent ride quality.

Aerospace-Grade Aluminum

Mounts, collars, and spring perches are machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum; steel shock bodies are zinc-plated for added protection from corrosion.

Installation

Set ride height with the adjustable lower mount where the application has one; use the spring perch only where the application-specific layout has no adjustable lower mount. Lock every collar with both spanner wrenches. Start damping 18 clicks counterclockwise from full stiff and adjust from there. Professional setup and alignment are required after installation; on MacPherson fronts, establish baseline camber at the elongated lower-mount hole before fine adjustment at the upper plate.
