Product details
Version DR is the drag race build in the BMW M3 E36 coilover line, supplied for 1995-1999 cars as four assembled coilovers sprung and valved for drag use. Springs are rated 12 kg/mm in front and 6 kg/mm at the rear, a combination chosen to maximize traction and regulate weight transfer.
The platform underneath is the Version RR road race system, while the valving is custom for drag racing. Each damper has one knob for 36 levels of adjustment, and setting it full soft gives a comfortable cruise between passes. Monotube high-pressure bodies keep oil and gas apart, which speeds heat dissipation and keeps behavior consistent from pass to pass.
Billet 6061-T6 aluminum makes the mounts, collars and spring perches, while the shock bodies carry zinc plating against corrosion. The MacPherson fronts take a pillowball top mount with camber adjustment. This kit is also listed for 1992-1998 BMW 3 Series RWD 323i, 325i and 328i cars, so check the year, make and model checker before you order.
Supported features
Custom valved for drag racing with spring rates chosen to maximize traction and regulate weight transfer.
36 levels of damping adjustment. Set full soft for a comfortable cruising setting between passes.
Many MacPherson applications have pillowball upper mounts; the patented bearing design combats noise and improves steering feel and response.
Most applications adjust ride height without affecting shock and spring travel.
Oil and gas stay separated within the cylinder for faster heat dissipation, finer damping adjustment, and consistent behavior pass after pass.
Mounts, collars, and spring perches are machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum; steel shock bodies are zinc-plated for added protection from corrosion.

Installation
Set ride height with the adjustable lower mount where the application has one; use the spring perch only where the application-specific layout has no adjustable lower mount. Lock every collar with both spanner wrenches. Start damping 18 clicks counterclockwise from full stiff and adjust from there. Professional setup and alignment are required after installation; on MacPherson fronts, establish baseline camber at the elongated lower-mount hole before fine adjustment at the upper plate.
