Start with the exact application
Coilover adjustment layouts vary by vehicle and kit. Identify the exact part number and use its installation instructions before changing a collar or damping adjuster.
KSport support notes that damping adjusters may be at the top of a non-inverted shock or at the bottom of an inverted shock. The location and ride-height method depend on the application.
Set damping from the documented baseline
Kontrol Pro and Kontrol Sport have 36 damping settings. For the documented baseline, turn the adjuster fully clockwise to the stiffest setting, then turn it 18 clicks counterclockwise. Do not force the adjuster past its last setting; use the adjuster location and instructions for your exact kit.
Use the ride-height adjustment designed for your kit
For systems with an adjustable lower mount, KSport says to set ride height at the lower mount rather than the spring perch. KSport recommends removing the coilover system from the vehicle for this adjustment because the lower locking collar needs force to tighten.
Some vehicles do not have an adjustable lower mount and use a spring perch for ride-height adjustment; separate-spring layouts may require a shock-length adjustment as well. Follow the procedure for the exact application and do not transfer a method from a different layout.
Leave factory spring preload set
Spring preload is always set from our factory and should not be adjusted. If you are diagnosing a noise or cannot identify the adjustment hardware, check the KSport support guide or ask a technician with the part number and vehicle details.
Frequently asked questions
How do I set the damping baseline on KSport coilovers?
For the documented baseline, turn the adjuster fully clockwise to the stiffest setting, then turn it 18 clicks counterclockwise. Do not force it past the last setting. Use the adjuster location and instructions for your exact kit.
Can I adjust ride height with the spring perch?
For systems with an adjustable lower mount, KSport says to adjust ride height at the lower mount. Some vehicles without an adjustable lower mount use the spring perch, so check the layout and instructions for your exact application.
Should I change spring preload?
No. KSport sets spring preload at the factory and says it should not be adjusted.
